CLéMENTINE MARCH LIXO SENTIMENTAL
French-British chanteuse and beam of positive energy, Clémentine March pays tribute to Brazilian pop star Rita Lee with the utterly infectious 'Lixo Sentimental'. Following 'After The Solstice', the celebratory lead single from her forthcoming debut album Powder Keg, 'Lixo Sentimental' is another uplifting piece of left-field chamber pop. Sung entirely in Portuguese, March describes the piece as “an affected parody of a sentimental song. I'm teasing myself for being too romantic for my own sake sometimes. I wrote it as a tribute to Rita, thinking she would have enjoyed it.” Palpably not taking herself too seriously, it's impossible not to feel the love in her music, having recorded the album in collaboration with Ollie Chapman (bass) & Sophie Lowe (drums) in October 2023 and co-producing it all with Joe Futák. Fans of Stereolab, Cate Le Bon and weird, jazzy pop music should take particular note as we anticipate the arrival of Powder Keg on the 9th of January via PRAH Recordings. -Holly Mullineaux
